Second Italian LNG Terminal Approved

Italy's Emilia Romagna region has approved a project for a new floating LNG terminal off the coast of Ravenna in the upper Adriatic sea.

  • The project was fast tracked and cleared within 10 months. It will not be ready until at least Q4 2024.
  • Italy is set to create two floating regasification units – one off Ravenna and other off the Tuscan port of Piombino. Both will be operated by Snam.
  • The units are being created to help Italy move away from Russian gas.
