Senate Cloture Vote On Funding CR Expected At 13:00 ET 18:00 GMT

The Senate will convene shortly at 10:30 ET 15:30 GMT to resume consideration of the Continuing Resolution through March 11th. If no agreement is reached, there will be a cloture vote on the motion to proceed at 13:00 ET 18:00 GMT.

  • Additional votes are expected on amendments which could threaten the midnight deadline.
  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is currently in New York City but is expected to return to Washington to push the motion through the chamber.
  • Both Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have stated that it is in neither party's best interests for the government to shut down.
  • Senator John Braun (R-WA) of Senate Appropriations Committee has said he expects a CR to pass but called the Senate 'dysfunctional' and criticised the Biden administration for failing to produce a timely budget.
