CHILE: Senate Finance Committee To Vote On Pension Bill

- The Senate’s finance committee is due to vote on the pension reform bill at 1300GMT(0800ET) today. This follows the decision by the Senate Labour Committee earlier this week to advance the bill after completing the article-by-article votes. If approved by the finance committee today, the legislation will proceed to the Senate, where a vote could come as soon as tomorrow. Separately, Mining Minister Aurora Williams and copper executives are due to participate at an event about Expomin 2025 from 1500GMT(1000ET) today.
- On the data front, the local calendar remains light ahead of the January 28 BCCh monetary policy meeting. Before that meeting, the BCCh will publish its latest traders survey tomorrow, including market participants interest rate forecasts, while December PPI inflation figures cross on Friday. Recent survey data have indicated that the central bank is expected to pause its easing cycle at 5.00% this month, amid near-term inflation pressures.
- USDCLP has opened 0.4% lower on Wednesday, amid a broadly soft dollar, with the move bringing the pair back below the 1000 level as well as initial support at the 20-day EMA at 1001.1. Below here, firm support sits at 987.53, the 50-day EMA.
