ILS: Shekel Extends Gains For Fourth Day, USD/ILS Clears 50-DMA
ILS
USD/ILS has crossed above its 50-DMA (3.6006) and last changes hands at 3.6153, up 88 pips on the session. The pair gains for the fourth consecutive day, even as the BBDXY Index has softened in the early part of this week. Bulls now look for a clean break above Jan 27 high of 3.6392, which would confirm a short-term reversal pattern. Bears look for renewed losses towards recent cyclical lows around 3.5300.
- Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'as said that Israel is "ready to progress to phase two of the ceasefire" on the condition of full demilitarisation of the Gaza Strip and the release of all hostages held by Hamas. Separately, N12 reported that Israel could restart its Gaza offensive within 10 days if the deadlock with Hamas continues. Fighting remains on hold but Israel halted humanitarian aid to Gaza as phase one of the deal with Hamas expired on Sunday.
- The TA-35 is 1.2% weaker on the day but stays within a familiar range.
