China's Sinopec and Pembina Pipeline Corp are in talks for an LNG offtake agreement and equity stake in the proposed 3mtpa Cedar LNG project in Canada, according to Reuters sources.

  • Sinopec is in discussions to purchase 1.5m tons per year of output from Cedar LNG which would be one of Canada's first LNG export terminals.
  • In April, Cedar announced 20-year offtake agreements with ARC Resources and Pembina for 1.5m tons each.
  • A final investment decision for the project is expected by mid-2024 and completion in 2028.
