SOUTH AFRICA
  • Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said that state-owned operator Transnet should be able to fix backlogged ports within the next 12-14 months, which will "help stability." According to the official, "as we get more control on our own domestic environment, the improvements will come."
  • The South African Wind Energy Association said that the decision by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) to reject Eskom's application to reserve grid capacity for public projects may deal a considerable blow to wind and solar energy projects in the so-called Bid Window 7, which was launched in December to procure 5,000MW of new generation capacity.
  • The SARB reported South Africa's net reserves to be $59.17bn in July, an uptick from June's $58.44bn.
  • South Africa will sell 2030 floating bonds at an auction today.
