Speaker of House of Commons, John Bercow,........>

UK
UK: Speaker of House of Commons, John Bercow, announces he will stand down from
his post at the next general election (should Commons vote for snap GE this
evening). If they do not, he will stand down on Thursday 31 October.
- The reason for selected date of departure is likely to ensure sitting
parliament chooses next speaker, not a new group of MPs.
- Bercow viewed by many Brexiteers as an opponent of leaving the EU. Has had
many run-ins with gov't, under PM's Cameron, May, and Johnson.
- Rumours Conservatives would have challenged Bercow (a former Conservative MP)
in his Buckingham constituency at next election if he had not resigned.
