House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has told reporters today that she will tell her Democrat reps to pass the Senate passed Inflation Reduction Act without amendments when the House of Representatives returns on Friday to synch with the upper chamber.
- There still a lingering concern that a trio of moderate reps may oppose the bill if it doesn't include a reinstatement of the state and local income tax (SALT) deduction but that group of Tom Suozzi (D-NY), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), and Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) have indicated they will step down from a hardline position on SALT.
- The other concern, that some progressive Democrats will oppose what they see as a watered down social spending package, appears to have receded too.
- Pelosi told NBC today that, "our members are very pleased. Quite a bit of what is in the bill is what we had worked on."
