State Department Press Conference Beginning Shortly

State Department Spokesperson Ned Price will shortly deliver a press conference from the Department of State.

  • Yesterday, Price expressed doubt about Russia's willingness to maintain grain corridors in the Black Sea. "We acknowledge that Moscow’s track record – when it comes to previous deals that it has struck – is not exactly a cause for optimism. It harkens back to what we saw from Russia in the context of the humanitarian corridors... those humanitarian corridors were opened for just a few days or, in some cases, just a few hours, before Moscow appeared to renege on its agreement."
  • On the prospect of movement in the Iran nuclear accords, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Price said: "[Paris] put out a statement... that President Macron of France conveyed precisely the same message we have conveyed indirectly to the Iranians. We are prepared to re-enter on a mutual basis the JCPOA...; the Iranians would need to do the same. We have not yet, at least to date, seen the Iranians indicate that they’re ready to do that.
