Statkraft Revised Down Renewable Capacity Addition Targets

Statkraft has revised down its renewable capacity additions targets and now aims to develop 2-2.5GW of new solar, onshore wind and battery storage per year from 2026, according to the Q2 results.

  • The target was revised down from 2.5-5GW per year from 2025 and 4GW per year from 2030.
  • So far this year, Statkraft has made new investment decisions for 124MW of renewable capacity.
  • Statkraft also finalised the acquisition of Spanish renewables firm Enerfin in Q2 – adding 1.5GW of wind and solar projects to its portfolio.
  • The firm’s power generation capacity now exceeds 21GW as of Q2, with a flexible portfolio of projects under development of around 21GW.
  • Statkraft’s power generation in Q2 stood at 14.4TWh, up by 1.3TWh on the year, supported by an increase in hydropower generation in Norway (+0.3TWh) and higher generation capacity in Germany and Brazil (+0.8TWh).
  • The firm also plans to add 6-8GW of new offshore wind by 2040 in Northern Europe.
