STOCKS: Stronger than expected Chinese PMI data (released over the weekend & on
Monday) has supported risk appetite in early Asia-Pac trade, allowing the major
regional equity indices to start the final month of 2019 on the front foot.
- A weaker JPY and continued talk of fiscal stimulus allowed the Nikkei 225 to
outperform its major regional counterparts, with the materials and consumer
discretionary sectors leading the way higher in Japan.
- Nikkei 225 +1.1%, Hang Seng +0.5%, CSI 300 +0.5%, ASX 2000 +0.6%.
- S&P 500 futures +10, DJIA futures +87, NASDAQ 100 futures +31.
