Summary 2/2 - BCCh Expected On Hold, Colombia CPI Falls Further

CHILE - BCCh Today at 2100GMT/1600ET – All surveyed analysts expect the Central Bank to leave the overnight rate unchanged at 0.5%.

  • CPI released this morning saw a reading of -0.1% m/m vs expected 0.2% and a 2.7% reading for the yearly figure vs. expected 3.0%
  • The central bank will also publish its Q4 Monetary Policy Report (IPoM) on Wednesday, Dec 9.

COLOMBIA - CPI continued to disappoint over the weekend with Nov CPI registering -0.15% m/m vs expected 0.06% and 1.49% y/y vs expected 1.71%.


PERU - The Monetary Policy Committee will meet on Thursday, Dec 10. It is expected the committee will keep the reference rate at 0.25% and maintain the forward guidance of stable rate for an extended period.


ARGENTINA - Headlines late Friday that the one-time tax on the wealthy has been approved by the Senate. Public holiday in Argentina today.
