BOE: Summary of Haskel's speech (link below):
- "I believe the current stance of monetary policy is appropriate but, on
balance, risks are to the downside."
- Says that he "readily joined the majority of colleagues on the MPC in voting
for more QE to avoid
a tightening of financial conditions which could have jeopardised hitting our
inflation target."
- Regarding a second wave he says the MPC would respond to the economic
consequences of this but notes that "also the case that cautious behaviour by
consumers is already built into our published scenario and we have demonstrated
that we can respond quickly and effectively to financial market dysfunction".
- Also says that relative to the March scenario "activity appears to be coming
back faster than we anticipated."
