Sunak-We're Talking With US & EU On Inflation Reduction Act

As PM Rishi Sunak holds talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, Reuters reported earlier in the hour that Sunak has confirmed his gov't is talking with both the US and the EU regarding the US' Inflation Reduction Act, a massive programme of subsidies and tax credits for green tech.

• Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt has previously said the IRA is a 'very real competitive threat'. Asked on the topic by reporters, Sunak stated that, "...my general view is that it's better for all of us to maintain free and open markets.We just need to make sure that everyone remembers that that is our best long term route for all of our prosperity and security...We're engaged in conversation with the EU and U.S. about the implementation of some of these things."
• Sunak also confirmed that the potential for China to send weapons to Russia for use in its invasion of Ukraine would also be discussed during the Franco-British summit.
