FOREX: Supported by hopes the Republican pro-growth US tax package will get
signed into law before year-end saw the big dollar eked out some mild gains
against many of its peers before range-trading took hold in a quiet Asia-Pacific
session. Dollar-yen moved higher from Y112.49 to Y112.83, Tokyo-fix related
demand added support. Aussie initially fell from $0.7655 to $0.7641, but then
recovered to $0.7663 as ore futures pressed higher, Dalian ore +5.4%. Kiwi
consolidated between $0.6991 and $0.7014. Meanwhile, cable trades at $1.3334 and
euro-dollar at $1.1760, after trading in respective ranges of $1.3310 to $1.3337
and $1.1737 to $1.1765.
