Sweden Using Oil Fired Generation as Power Prices Hit Record

The Karlshamn power station in Swedeen, which burns heavy fuel oil has been running regularly for about a week, according to operator Uniper SE.

  • Power prices in the southern part of a country are at an all-time high for Wednesday, due to lower wind generation and nuclear outages.
  • The plant has a capacity of 662mw and has been operating at about 200 to 300mw.
