activity data, which saw industrial production top expectations and retail sales
miss. The surveyed unemployment rate edged higher (but most have suggested this
provides a notable understatement vs. true unemployment given the methodology),
while FAI was virtually in line with exp.
- The data doesn't really change the broader narrative of manufacturing being
the focal point of the push towards a COVID-19 recovery, with consumer activity
and investment both sluggish.
