Talks On Northern Ireland Trade Rules To Continue After Talks Today

UK Minister for Northern Ireland Chris Heaton-Harris and European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic have indicated that talks on post-Brexit trade rules for Northern Ireland will continue after a meeting today.

  • Heaton-Harris said on Twitter, "Good to see (European Commission Vice President) Maros Sefcovic again to discuss the situation in Northern Ireland."
  • Heaton-Harris: "We agreed solutions to the Protocol must work for benefit of all communities and businesses in Northern Ireland. UK and EU teams continue to talk and [British foreign minister James Cleverly], Maros & I will remain in close touch."
  • Sefcovic tweeted: "Good to talk to Northern Ireland Secretary [Heaton-Harris]. [The EU] and [UK] continue to work, with a clear focus on real-life concerns of all communities in NI. Joint solutions = clarity and predictability. Foreign Secretary [James Cleverly] Chris and I stay in touch."
