Talks w/Ukraine Conclude, Possibility Of 2nd Round Of Discussions: RIA

Headlines emerging from Russia's state-owned RIA regarding the talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials on the Belarus-Ukraine border. Talks have just concluded:

  • The Russian and Ukrainian delegations have completed negotiations and will leave for their capitals for consultations before the new round, Ukrainian presidency said. — RIA
  • The Russian and Ukrainian delegations today identified a number of priority topics on which they outlined certain solutions, said Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president — RIA
  • Russia and Ukraine discussed the possibility of holding a second round of negotiations in the near future, said the adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president Podolyak
  • The main purpose of the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Belarus was to discuss a ceasefire on the territory of Ukraine — Podolyak.
Comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky officially signs papers seeking a fastrack membership of the EU. As noted in an earlier bullet (see 1103GMT bullet), this process is unlikely to be fastracked given the stringent criteria the EU sets for membership of the bloc.
