CHINA: The China Banking Regulatory Commission announced on Thursday a revised
administrative regulation on foreign banks in China in a bid to further open up
the banking sector. According to a statement on the CBRC's website, the new
regulation clarifies rules for foreign banks in setting up or investing in
financial institutions in China, simplifying the approval process. The
regulation also unifies standards for foreign banks' market access, the CBRC
said.
