CHINA: The core function of risk controls in China is to control leverage
ratios, Sun Guofeng, director of the Financial Research Institute at the
People's Bank of China, said Wednesday in Beijing. Sun said at the Caijing
summit that leverage ratios of banks, cross-border capital flows, the foreign
exchange market and the property sector need to be reined in. He also noted that
more regulations need to be created to better manage banks' accounting practices
and their accounting departments.
