FOREX: The dollar put on a mixed performance against its peers in quiet Asia
trading, where cross flows largely dictated direction. Dollar-yen climbed higher
from Y113.43 to Y113.69, firmer Japanese equities encouraged demand. Euro-dollar
trekked higher from $1.1757 to $1.1784, euro-yen demand reported from Japanese
life companies was the cited catalyst. Cable rose up from around $1.3380 to
$1.3406, traders reported sterling-yen demand, unconfirmed stories that was also
 demand from Japanese lifers. Kiwi was the best performer against the dollar,
the pair rising sharply from $0.6855 to $0.6906, the move followed news that
Adrian Orr was named as the new governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Aussie pushed higher from $0.7504 to $0.7525, the move was mainly in
sympathy with the surging kiwi.
