KIWI: The flightless bird opened in Asia at $0.7178 toward the middle of
yesterday's $0.7132 to $0.7210 range, where election jitters placed the kiwi on
the defensive, with the latest poll putting Labour ahead of the National party
for the first time since 2006. Locally, NZ Q2 terms of trade will be the early
focus, expectations are for a rise of 3.0% against a prior reading of 5.4%.
Resistance lies at $0.7196 (38.2% $0.7299 to $0.7132 decline), while yesterday's
base of $0.7132 provides support, a break opens $0.7101 (61.8% retracement on
the $0.6818 to $0.7558 rise). Kiwi was last at $0.7180.
