GILT SUMMARY
GILT SUMMARY: The House of Commons has voted to 'take control' of the Brexit
agenda, which will now lead to a series of indicative votes on possible ways
forward.
- However, this does not significantly reduced near-term uncertainty or take
no-deal off the table. There are still no signs of parliament coalescing around
an alternative to May's deal. Even if parliament does reach a consensus, PM
Theresa May has hinted that she may ignore the outcome, while the EU may not be
amenable to the solution proposed by MPs.
- Gilts have started the session a touch weaker. Current yield levels: 2-year
0.645%, 5-year 0.7696%, 10-year 1.001%, 30-year 1.492%.
- The Jun-19 gilt future trades at 129.31, 30 ticks below yesterday's close.
- Short sterling futures are 0.5-1.5 ticks lower.
