JAPAN: The latest round of weekly Japanese security flow data showed that
foreign investors tuned buyers of Japanese bonds and equities, purchasing
~Y1.57tn of the former in the week to March 29, and ~Y439bn of the latter. This
represented the first week of foreigners conducting net purchases of Japanese
stocks since late January, while the bond flows represented an unwind of the
prior week's selling, pushing the 4-week rolling sum of the metric further into
positive territory.
- Japanese investors continued to purchase large amounts of foreign bonds in the
latest week covered by the data, clocking up a net ~Y1.244tn in purchases,
resulting in a 12th consecutive week of positive readings for 4-week rolling sum
of the metric. Japanese investors purchased a net Y61.5bn worth of foreign
stocks in the latest week, after selling Y74.2bbn in the previous week.
