US DATA PREVIEW: The MNI poll of economists has a 240,000 median estimate for
the Thursday 8:30am ET US initial weekly jobless claims. And Nomura economists
led by Lewis Alexander said that the  "initial claims data indicate continued
labor market tightness. For the week ending July 22, initial claims increased
10k to 244k, remaining within a low steady range." 
- They add the "4-week moving average, a less volatile reading, remained
unchanged at 244k. For the week ending July 15, continuing claims decreased
slightly to 1964k from 1977k one week prior. The insured unemployment rate
remained unchanged at 1.4%. With a historically low unemployment rate and strong
payroll growth, we expect these series to remain subdued over the medium term."
