CHINA: The operating revenue and profits of state-owned enterprises grew further
in the first three quarters of this year, the Ministry of Finance said Friday.
The operating revenue of all SOEs totaled CNY37.64 trillion, up 15.9%
year-on-year in the January-September period, while profits rose 24.9% to
CNY2.18 trillion, the ministry noted. Profits of local-government SOEs increased
40.3% to CNY771.47 billion and those run by the central government were up 17.8%
to CNY1.41 trillion. Some SOE sectors that had suffered losses last year have
seen a turnaround in profits this year. The non-ferrous metals, coal, petroleum
and petrochemical and transport sectors have seen big profit increases, while
the electric power sector has suffered a decline in profits, the ministry said.
