COMMODITIES: The WSJ has reported that "Brazil's iron-ore giant Vale SA alerted
local authorities another of its mining-waste dams could burst as soon as next
week, just months after the unexpected collapse of a similar structure owned by
the company killed hundreds of people in the town of Brumadinho. Vale said it
warned prosecutors that its tailings dam in the mining community of Barao de
Cocais in southeast Brazil could collapse because of problems found in an
inactive mine nearby. Risk levels at the dam were first raised in February, but
now Vale says it has found signs of an imminent landslide likely to happen in
the nearby mine, which could potentially cause the dam to collapse."
