  • Comes after PM Boris Johnson stated in the Commons that "The cost of the pandemic has been huge...we will continue to use all our ingenuity and compassion for as long as it takes. And the Chancellor and I will be saying more about this in the coming days." Last comment seen by some of a sign of new measures designed to tackle inflationary pressure.
  • Dan O'Donoghue at Manchester Evening News tweets potential meaning of Johnson's comment, that it was, "likely in reference to Queen's Speech debate on Tuesday. If it's anything like QS briefing paper, will be a long summary of action already taken, rather than new measures"
