RATINGS
RATINGS: Tonight, after the US market close the following sovereign ratings
action are due:
- Moody's: Austria, Germany
- Fitch: Italy
- DBRS: Slovakia, Portugal.
- The fastest moving credits are generally the high yielders but prospects for
changes today are quite small. DBRS already rates Portugal higher than other
ratings agencies and tends to move more slowly.
- Fitch's BBB (stable) rating of Italy is a notch higher than S&P and the same
as Moody's. It was only cut from BBB+ in April this year because of persistent
fiscal slippage, political risk and banking risk. It would be unusual to see an
upgrade six months later.
