Total Plans No Offtake from Arctic LNG 2 in 2024

Total will not receive LNG cargoes from Arctic LNG 2 in 2024, citing US sanctions imposed in November, according to Bloomberg.

  • “We have initiated the force majeure process in accordance with existing contracts, and we will comply with applicable sanctions regimes in accordance with our principles of conduct,” TotalEnergies SE said in a statement Tuesday.
  • “Consequently, no offtake of LNG from Arctic LNG 2 by TotalEnergies is planned in 2024,” it added.
  • Total has a 10% stake in the project, whose first 6.6m mtpa train is due to reach design capacity in Q1.
