TotalEnergies To Reward French Customers That Reduce Demand

ELECTRICITY

TotalEnergies announced plans to reward its consumers in France that lower their household electricity consumption, to decrease France’s overall energy consumption over the winter, the company said.

  • Customers will be offered between €30-120 off their household bills depending on the amount of consumption reduction, Total said.
  • Total will award a bonus to those who manage to lower their consumption by at least 5% this winter compared to a year earlier.
  • "This 5% decline can easily be reached by several efficient acts as suggested by TotalEnergies: “lower the heating by one degree or unplug all household appliances on standby, which represent 7% and 5% decreases respectively," the company said in a statement.
  • In September, the French government said power price increases would be capped at 15% next year.
  • French power consumption is forecast to between 49-59.4GW during the next seven days, data from RTE show.
