US TSYS SUMMARY: Treasuries are trading flat early Wednesday, with GDP / home
sales data and comments from Fed Chair Powell awaited.
- The Dec 18 T-Note future is unchanged at 119-80, having traded in a fairly
narrow 119-045 to 119-085 range so far.
- Curve is trading mixed; 2-Yr yield down 0.2bps at 2.8309%, 5-Yr down 1bps at
2.8801%, 10-Yr down 0.6bps at 3.0517%, and 30-Yr down 1.2bps at 3.3072%.
- Likewise, ED$ futures strip fairly flat, most contracts up 0.5-1.0 ticks.
- BBG reported this morning that Treasury Sec Mnuchin privately asked bond
dealers and investors in October, "seen as suggesting a way for the central bank
to accomplish its goal of preventing a strong economy from overheating without
triggering the ire of President Donald Trump".
- Dollar and equities fairly stable so far Wednesday.
- Futures roll (Z8-H9) continues; TU, US, WN contracts each over 60% complete.
Our early estimates show TY roll completion rising 3.3pp today to 57.2%.
- Attention shifts to US trade balance and Q3 GDP, with new home sales
following. Fed's Powell speaking at Economic Club of NY at 1130ET.
