US TSYS SUMMARY: Treasuries have been fairly rangebound early Wednesday, with
China headlines alternately weighing on and boosting risk appetite.
- Jun 10-Yr futures (TY) last up 0.5/32 at 124-5 (L: 124-03 / H: 124-08).
- Tsys were supported overnight with NYT reporting potential further U.S. tech
restrictions on China.
- Mid-morning Europe time, saw Tsys and other safe havens weighed on slightly as
Xinhua reported comments by Pres Xi, calling for boost in rare earths
development and pointing to long-term challenges at home and abroad.
- CNY appreciated on those comments, dollar weakened slightly (DXY off 0.1%).
- Modest bull steepening: 2-Yr yield down 0.6bps at 2.2476%, 5-Yr down 0.3bps at
2.223%, 10-Yr unchanged at 2.4264%, and 30-Yr up 0.1bps at 2.8446%.
- Eurodollar strip flat, though Whites/Reds up 0.5-1.0 ticks.
- Notably, St Louis Fed`s Bullard made (typically) dovish comments in Hong Kong
in early hours. Fed`s Williams and Bostic up later today, as are FOMC minutes.
- Limited data slate, with only MBA mortgage applications up later.
