US TSYS/STOCKS: Treasuries pressured a bit as the US stocks march higher on
expectations of US tax bill progress in Senate as Sen. McCain said will support
such bill. There could be hours ahead of debate on the tax bill, so could be
very late Thursday or early Friday before final vote. (Senate was to start work
on the bill at 10:30am ET; there was supposed to be 16.5 hours of debate left on
the issue, so assuming there are no stops or halts, the debate could
theoretically stretch to say 3am ET Friday, potentially.)
- Under normal circumstances, it is worth noting that the Senate can move to
close off debate and go for the full Senate vote, should it see fit.
- But in this case, GOP members wanted to have time to debate certain factors
that they had concerns about, so it could run for the full debate time.
