Trump Expected To Arrive At New York Court Shortly

US

Former President Donald Trump is expected to arrive at a New York court shortly where Judge Juan M. Merchan may finalise a criminal trial date in the case brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg alleging that Trump falsified business records related to hush-money paid adult film star Stormy Daniels.

  • The trial, original scheduled to begin today, has been delayed until at least April 15 due to a cache of new evidence turned over by federal prosecutors. Trump legal team is pressing to have the trial delayed further, or thrown out altogether.
  • The New York case is widely considered the least threatening to Trump - both politically and legally - but considering delays to the other three Trump criminal prosecutions, it may be the only case which goes to trial before the presidential election in November.
  • ABC News provides a useful timeline of the New York case here.
