Trump Maintains Huge Polling Lead In Iowa Despite Legal Troubles

US

Former President Donald Trump has increased his huge polling lead in the critical early primary state Iowa.

  • NBC reports: "...Trump now leads his nearest Republican rivals by nearly 30 points in Iowa, with two-thirds of likely GOP caucusgoers dismissing the severity of his legal challenges, according to the second conducted by J. Ann Selzer."
  • Selzer, a respected pollster in Iowa, said: “This is a good poll for Donald Trump. For all the things that happened between the last poll and now, he’s still the dominant player in the field, and his standing has, in fact, improved from August.”
  • The biggest winner in the rest of the field, over the past month, has been former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley who has drawn level with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for second place.
  • The poll comes as Former Vice President Mike Pence becomes the first high-profile candidate to withdraw from the race after failing to win support from Republican voters or donors.
  • Pence said: “It’s become clear to me: This is not my time… We always knew this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets.”
