Morning Consult’s Republican Party primary tracker continues to show former President Donald Trump maintaining a large lead over his GOP rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
- Morning Consult notes, “Most potential GOP primary voters (55%) support Trump, giving him a 35-percentage point lead over DeSantis, his closest contending rival.”
- Other trends noted by Morning Consult include, a moderate rise in the popularity of entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and a difficulty for "lower-tier candidates" to break through.
- MC: “Besides Trump and DeSantis, GOP presidential candidates are having a tough time getting the attention of the party’s expected electorate. More than half of potential GOP primary voters haven’t heard anything recently about Ramaswamy (54%), former Vice President Mike Pence (57%), former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (59%), South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (65%) and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (65%).”
