TTF Up 15% on Cooler Forecast Despite Recent Demand Reduction

Weekly data in Germany shows industrial gas consumption 29% below the 2018-2021 normal and households now 44% below the normal up from 54% last week according to THE data via Bundesnetzagentur.

  • The warm weather in Europe has helped to reduce demand but forecasts are showing colder weather is on the way at the end of the week. Forecasts are showing NW Europe falling back to near normal but Central and Eastern Europe are falling below normal into next week.
  • TTF front month has risen 15% today with the potential for an increase in demand from the first colder weather for the winter heating season. Curtailed supplies from Norway due to an outage Aasgard are adding to the upside pressures.
    • TTF DEC 22 up 15.6% at 113.13€/MWh
    • TTF SUM 23 up 10.9% at 119.7€/MWh
    • TTF WIN 23 up 9.8% at 118.05€/MWh
    • TTF SUM 24 up 7.6% at 92€/MWh
    • TTF WIN 24 up 5.8% at 89.25€/MWh
