Turkey Cancels Trilateral Meeting w/Sweden & Finland

Turkey's TRT Haber reporting that the gov't has cancelled a trilateral mechanism meeting with Sweden and Finland, due to be held in February, indefinitely. As noted in previous bullets (see 0935GMT bullet), Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that he would not support Sweden's NATO bid following protests in Stockholm that saw one activist burn a copy of the Qur'an.

  • Earlier today, the Finnish foreign minister stated that his country would maintain its stance that the Finnish and Swedish accession plans are to be treated as one (although aBloomberg articlesuggests this stance could be wavering).
