NATGAS: Turkey May Begin Supplying Syria With Gas This Summer
NATGAS
Turkey may begin supplying Syria with natural gas as soon as this summer, Bloomberg reports.
- “Hopefully this summer we can start seeing some flow of gas to Syria”, Turkey’s Energy Minister said Alparslan Bayraktar, cited by Bloomberg.
- Turkey is looking to increase interconnection capacities between neighbouring markets.
- Includes working with Azerbaijan producer Socar to increase capacity between Bulgaria and Turkey.
- Turkey is also in talks with US companies for LNG supplies to the Turkish market and beyond, Bloomberg reports. The two nations plan to announce a broader cooperation in the energy sector, according to Bayraktar.
- Turkey may also lease one of its floating LNG terminals to Egypt, which is struggling with declines in its domestic gas output.
