Turkish Bonds Add More Gains, But Remain Notable Weaker W/W

  • Local & USD rates remain unch this morning, having closed yesterday’s session mostly firmer across both curves.
  • TurkGB yields fell -13-38bp with 5Y yields most bid, while the USD curve dipped -3.8-7.9bp on the day.
  • W/w, however, both curves remain notably weaker, despite recent gains. TurkGBs trade +103-106bp higher in 3m-5Y tenors, while 9-10Y tenors stand +88bp higher.
  • Erdogan’s policies have brought about some near-term stability, but risks remain elevated if the measures are not complimented with others to target hyperinflation and offset the potential fiscal burden on public finances & CBRT.
