Turkish FM Speaks On Grain Deal, Swedish Accession

Turkey has become one of, if not the, key interlocutor between Russia and Ukraine, highlighted by Russia ending its pause of the Black Sea grain initiative that threatened the supply of wheat and other grains from Ukraine.

  • Cavusoglu states that the Turkish gov't will try to extend the Black Sea grain initiative beyond the initial four-month period agreed to by Russia and Ukraine in the summer.
  • On Sweden's NATO application Cavusoglu states "We observed that the new Swedish government as decisive on fulfilling the requirements of the deal for its NATO bid". Comes following Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson's visit to Turkey earlier in the week.
  • Stoltenberg: "It’s unacceptable for Iran — or any other country — to supply weapons to Russia for its war on Ukraine."
