UKMTO Issues Warning After Gulf Of Aden Incident Report

MIDEAST

The UKMTO has issued a warningfollowing a report of an incident 70NM south east of the Yemeni city of Aden. There are no further details as of yet as to whether the presumet Houthi attack on commercial shipping has caused any damage. The latest attack comes in the wake of the latest US airstrike on Houthi targets in Yemen. US CENTCOM confirmed earlier that on 21 Feb, its forces "conducted four self-defense strikes against seven mobile Houthi Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles and one mobile Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile launcher that were prepared to launch towards the Red Sea. Additionally, during this time frame CENTCOM forces shot down a one-way attack unmanned aircraft system (UAS) in self-defense."

  • Earlier, Israeli forces confirmedthat they had intercepted an apparent Houthi attack near the southern city of Eilat on the Gulf of Aqaba. The IDF claims it "successfully intercepted a launch which was identified in the area of the Red Sea and was en route to Israel. The target did not cross into Israeli territory and did not pose a threat to civilians.” The Houthis have not yet claimed responsibility for the attempted attack, a departure from the norm.
