US NATGAS: Ukraine Boosts Gas Imports by Another 10%

US NATGAS

Ukraine is set to increase its gas imports by a further 10% on Thursday to around 25 million cubic meters according to transmission data.

  • It shows 9.8 mcm of gas would come from Hungary, 11.6 mcm from Slovakia and 3.5 mcm from Poland.
  • Ukraine is more reliant on gas imports this month because of persistent attacks by Russia on its infrastructure. Demand for gas flows has been rising since the beginning of February.
  • The increase had added some support to TTF before the recent pullback on Russia/Ukraine peace talks and the latest  push for relaxed EU gas storage targets.
  • Slovakia has threatened to cut the flows off after its dismay at the Ukraine transit finishing at the end of last year over its own supply pressure this winter.
