Ukraine Power Imports at  24GWh on Tuesday Despite Grid Repairs

POWER

Ukraine will import 23.95GWh of power on Tuesday, compared with 27.17GWh on Monday, despite scheduled grid repairs, Ukrenergo said, cited by Reuters.

  • Ukraine can currently import no more than 1.7GWh of electricity from the EU states simultaneously, with Tuesday’s maximum technical capacity of 1.464GWh, Ukrenergo said.
  • "As of yesterday, one of the high-voltage overhead lines connecting the Ukrainian energy system with the united energy grid of continental Europe has been put into scheduled repair," Ukrenergo said.
  • Repairs are not expected to affect the total volume power of imports from its European neighbors as the capacity of the repaired line is distributed among other interstate lines. The operator did not disclose the duration of the works.
  • Separately, Ukraine’s 1.5GW Dniprovska hydro plant has not been able to produce power since the attacks according to Interfax.
  • The Ukrainian energy minister said last week Ukraine will finalize a decision on increasing the country’s power import capacity by this winter, with technical import capacity as high as 2.5GW.
