Ukraine Reassures European Traders Safety of Gas Storage Sites

Ukraine is aiming to reassure European natural gas traders that it is still safe to store gas in the country’s natural gas reserves after Russia’s attack on one of the sites on Sunday.

  • “I would like to stress that damages do not affect our capabilities for gas injection into underground gas storage”, Roman Maliutin, CEO Ukrtransgaz said.
  • Ukraine expects international traders to store as much as 4bcm of natural gas during the summer month, he added.
  • Ukrtansgaz said on Tuesday the site hit by a Russian missile will very slightly reduce fuel withdrawals as the site undergoes repairs. The storage facility is now offering a daily capacity of 73.8mcm for booking, compared with 78mcm before the incident, the operator said.
