Ukraine Reports Shelling In Donbas, No Longer Frames It In Terms Of Ceasefire Violations

UKRAINE

The headquarters of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in the Donbas report in their daily morning briefing that the armed forces of the Russian Federation opened fire 96 times on Tuesday, including 81 times with the use of heavy weapons. One Ukrainian soldier was fatally wounded by a shrapnel and another one has been hospitalised as a result of shelling by the Russian troops, with five more soldiers suffering combat injuries.

  • The Ukrainian military adds that Russian troops shelled their positions 15 times on Wednesday, including 14 times with the use of heavy weapons, with no casualties so far. Note that the pro-Russian separatist rebels are also captured by the umbrella terms "armed forces of the Russian Federation and "Russian occupation forces."
  • Ukraine's military briefing quotes the crude number of shellings, with no reference to 2020 ceasefire agreements or 2014 Minsk agreements. JFO headquarters previously framed their daily briefings in terms of violations of these agreements committed by Russian forces.
