Unemployment Rate Due This Morning

POLAND
  • Poland's unemployment rate is expected to have eased to 5.4% in March from 5.5% prior. The data will be published at 09:00BST/10:00CEST. This comes as Rzeczpospolita cited statistics from a major website for job seekers, which showed an upsurge in the number of Poles seeking employment abroad.
  • Finance Ministry Chief Economist Lukasz Czernicki said that the ministry is working on tweaking the so-called "stabilising spending rule" next year. It has assessed that "the spending rule in its current form would require very strong fiscal consolidation next year, actually reaching a budget surplus."
  • Inter-party negotiations ahead of this year's parliamentary election continue. Centre-right agrarian PSL leader Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said he is close to striking a coalition agreement with former TV personality Szymon Holownia's Polska 2050 and they may announce contesting the election as one bloc within days.
