Unemployment Rate Ticks Higher To 3.5%

  • Czechia's unemployment rate ticked higher to 3.5% in July from 3.4% prior, missing Bloomberg median estimate of 3.6%. The local labour market remains one of the tightest ones in the European Union.
  • The CNB will publish data on its international reserves and the volume of FX interventions at 09:00BST/10:00CEST. The Bank Board formally terminated its FX intervention regime last week, noting that the tool has not been used since October 2022.
  • President Petr Pavel is holding off on appointing Robert Fremr to become a new constitutional judge amid controversies surrounding his record in communist Czechoslovakia. Fremr told Lidovky that he will not comment on the matter yet.
